bwCloud - is...
An "Infrastructure-as-a-Service" (IaaS) environment, specifically designed and operated for research and education in Baden-Württemberg.
With bwCloud, virtual servers or virtual machines (VMs) can be created, launched, and managed. These virtual machines include resources such as virtual CPUs (vCPUs), main memory (RAM), network access (IPv4 and IPv6 addresses), and storage. In terms of operation and administration, they are no different from "real" physical machines— except in one crucial aspect: VMs can be set up, started, and decommissioned much faster than physical servers, especially when requirements change.
